Sad days sometimes

Rescue isn’t always a happy ending sometimes it’s a peaceful end to a painful life.
This week we were brought a cat in a severe collapsed state. Huge thanks to the kind gentleman that picked her of the street where she was collapsing. We rushed her straight to the vets where she was put on a drip and warmed up. Sadly blood tests showed she was severely anaemic, diabetic, liver function poor and blood like water. 😓😓😓 she had been living rough quite some time and her poor body just couldn’t cope anymore. She was given a peaceful release from pain and suffering.Heartbreaking for us all. As always thank you to our vets Darlington Vet Clinic #catlove #catsrescue

Cloud

Cloud the cat was brought to us last week in a horrendous state. feeling very sorry for herself.
After treatment for burns , antibiotics and pain killer as well as good nutrition and care she is now feeling a lot better though occasionally does have set backs and it will be a long road to recovery. Thank you to everyone who Donated.

Snowy

Snowy the feral is in recovery after having most teeth removed and part of her ear. Snowy is eight year old and was trapped originally in 2010, from a hospital that was over run with ferals, she was relocated but then had to be relocated again a couple of years later and so has lived down allotments quite happily these last few years. She was bumped by a car last year but ran off and wouldn’t come near again for quite a while. Lately she has been more content staying in the greenhouse down allotments getting fed and keeping warm but at the weekend it was noticed her mouth was drooling and bleeding, now do you put to sleep an eight year old feral with ear growths and mouth issues or do you get her treated. Well you know the answer to that. We confined her and waited till Darlington vet clinic opened today.

So once again our front room has hospitalisation cage, she’ll fit right in here with ear missing as Flick has eye missing and Mr G leg missing 😺👍. Donations towards Snowys care most appreciated https://www.paypal.me/CatsRUs

Thank you.

Cat flu

How gorgeous do Huwie, Duwie and Lola our cat flu kittens from the summer look now. Luwie didn’t make it but these three are blossoming. Lola continue to be wary of people but the boys are more trusting. #caturday #catrescue #catflu #catsofinstagram #charity #shildon #feral

Black Cat Day

This little lady saved today she’s been breeding outdoors for quite a while. This will be her last litter once they reared she will be neutered etc then up for adoption. Seems appropriate that on #blackcatday the pregnant cat comes into care and is #blackcat #safenow

It’s not big and it’s not clever

FELV Feline leukaemia you’d never guess their mother carried a virus deadly to Cats and these could too. Note to all these who source kittens from any old place or let their cat have litters you’re not quite as clever as you think you are.

Velvet their mum suddenly collapsed so it was rush to Vets.

Sadly Velvet couldn’t be saved she had feline leukaemia, this could be a death sentence for her kittens too but we aren’t just going to immediately put them to sleep, we will give them every chance and will get tests done in a month or so but sadly we won’t be homing them they will stay with us and isolated until either they test negative or show signs of illness. Huge thanks to the as always fabulous Darlington Vet Clinic. 😓😓😓😓😓 Poor girl had no chance lived on the streets got pregnant had five kittens then thankfully someone saught help for her but it was just to late the virus coupled with kittens overwhelmed her 😓😓. RIP Velvet 😓😓😓😓 #pleaseibegyouneuteryourcats

Velvet had shown no signs of illness before collapse she was a loving cat and very good mum to her kittens, at one point Velvet will have had an owner a irresponsible owner that didn’t bother to neuter or vaccinate her against deadly diseases.

Yes all the statistics point to them having the virus but I have seen kittens then go on to be negative and be fine so there is a glimmer of hope they could fight it off. If not they’ll enjoy life until it makes them sick. The majority of FELV kittens who contract virus from mother don’t live past 12 to 13 mths. As opposed to cat who get it later who can live six or seven years till develop tumours. When I first started rescue it was rife before the vaccine was available then thanks to vaccination cases were rare but now it’s increasing again because of the higher number of cat population and the irresponsible cat owners who don’t neuter never mind vaccinate.
